Summer 2018

Details of regular club sessions, which are held at the track at Gosling Sports Park, Welwyn Garden City unless otherwise stated. Please check this page regularly for updates.

Mondays Open Session. 7-9pm Track Training for experienced Youth & Senior Racing Riders – through to 10th September – No session on Bank Holidays
Tuesdays Open Club 10 Time Trial.  7pm start from Cole Green.
Wednesdays Club Session. 7-9pm Track Session for Welwyn Racing Members, Youth & Senior with Track experience – through to 12th September

(N.B. Subject to prior notification from the Welwyn Coaching Team, some of these Wednesday Club Track sessions may be converted into Club Road Bike sessions during June / July)

New: Go-Ride Freewheel off-road Session. 7-8:30pm. Open session aimed at riders between U10-U14, riding either mountain or cyclocross bikes, although the skills will be transferable to road riding (if you are outside of this age group and wish to attend then please contact the coaches to discuss). The aim of the sessions will be “carrying speed” with a particular aim of carrying speed through all different types of corners.  We will be going back to basics, but won’t stay there long.  There will be a minimum of six progressive sessions, starting on June 6th.

Members Senior Ride. Generally leaves Gosling Sports Park at 7pm. Join and check the Wednesday Evening Senior Ride Facebook group for details.

Fridays Welwyn Track League – through to 14th September
Saturdays Go-Ride Freewheel Session.  9am – 10:30am. Novice session for young youth riders from U6 up to 16 years of age. Click on the link for more details.

Open Track Novice Sessions (10:30am-12pm) are scheduled on a regular basis, for ages U8 to Adult. Note that the dates for the next planned Track Novice sessions will be published here soon.

Open Track Improvers Session. 9-10:30am. Senior, Junior & Youth. Sessions are aimed at those with some track experience who have progressed from novice stage. See Welwyn Wheelers Track Accreditation 2018.

Sundays Club Run. Depending on racing commitments club runs are scheduled on an ad-hoc basis during the Summer and regularly throughout the Winter. Check the members Facebook group for announcements. 9am 2-3hr Ride (meet at Tennis Reception, Gosling Sports Park)


In September, details of the full Winter schedule will be published, to include regular:

  • CX training
  • Road bikes on the track (RBOT)
  • Turbo training
  • Muddy Monsters
  • Saturday morning road rides and off-road rides.
