Xmas Fancy Dress Ride

We are planning our annual Xmas Fancy Dress Offroad ride for Sat 9 Dec. We usually get 40+ riders for this and split into 2 or more groups.

Also, we would like to make this our 70th Anniversary ride, and we will celebrate the association with Hatfield Cycles by making that the destination for coffee.

There will also be an on-road ride for those without CX/MTB bikes, which will get to Hatfield Cycles at about 12noon (weather dependent).

Overall the plan is:

  • All the groups start from Gosling at 9:15am
  • Off-road groups aim for Hatfield Cycles in the middle of their ride….say 10:15-10:30ish…..groups unlikely to arrive at the same time.
  • On-road group aims to finish their ride at Hatfield Cycles roughly 11:30-12

See Social Media for further details in the weeks leading up to the event.

The events are off-road and suitable for mountain bikes or cyclo-cross bikes. Riders will need a helmet and a bike with two working brakes. Each round can be entered on the day for only £4. There may be a few spot prizes on the day but most of the awards are given for the overall series. The best 5 results from the 8 rounds to count for the overall series.

Navigated off-road rides

This Saturday (7 Oct) will be the start of navigated off-road rides. These are two hour or more rides targeted at those racing cx, with the aim of improving skills and endurance. Key though is they are about having fun.

The rides are open to those that the coaches believe have the skills and fitness to do the rides, so please ask. It is best that you have done some of the cx sessions at GSP before venturing out. They are aimed at U16 and above.

These are NOT coached rides but we look after each other. Numbers are limited by which experienced riders are going out.

What you need :- Appropriate clothing for the weather, helmet , gloves, glasses etc. Very well maintained bike :- CX or MTB.  If its not working properly you can’t join as it will only break once out!

Ability to fix bike:– Two spare inner tubes, tyre levers, pump, ideally spare chain links and multi-tool

Other:– Water, energy bar, anything you need for allergies
We set off at 9am prompt and this is going to be enforced so you need to be at the track early. We aim to be back at 11am but conditions and “mechanicals” can’t guarantee this.
See you Saturady
