Yet another amazing ride by Oli Stockwell on Saturday when he set another new Wheelers time trial record, finishing 6th out of a field of 120 riders in the Easter Counties 10 mile Championship TT in Essex with a time of 19:33. His time set new club overall record beating the senior record by around 3 minutes (on Friday evening he raced in the Welwyn Track League meeting at Gosling Sports Park but opted out of riding the final 10 mile event on the track to save his energy for Saturdays time trial).
The Track League has had a good start to the season as senior numbers have increased significantly compared to last year with 35 senior riders each week producing good competitive racing each week. Current points leaders in the Senior A class – Mark Smith, Alexi Edwards and John McClelland.
Youth circuit racing action at the weekend saw Iona Moir win the under 16 girls race at the Cyclopark with a strong finishing sprint to take the victory – younger brother Calum was 9th in the under 14 boys race. Nine Wheelers took part in Saturday’s CC Hackney Primavera races at Lee Valley Velopark with the highlights being Dylan Starkey winning the U12 race and Joe Kieley taking 2nd from a break of 3 in the U16 category with a large field.
