The South of England Showground again provided a lavishly muddy and testing course. Bruised and bloodied riders and pit crews were stretched to the limit throughout the weekend dealing with half-lap changes, broken components and jet washer reliability issues.
The conditions clearly suited the Wheelers with top 10 places for Euan Woodliffe, Ellen Bennett and Joe Kiely. Joe achieved his first National Trophy podium as a junior and Ellen was unfortunate to miss out on a podium spot after a dropped chain incident in the closing stages of the Women’s race.
