After the North West Tour and a few days rest, relaxation and easy ride outs in the beautiful (and wet) scenery of the Scottish highlands, Calum Moir headed to Lochgelly in Fife for the 2019 Scottish Road Circuit Championships.
A 30 minute race round the 1.6km relatively flat closed circuit was surprisingly blessed with dry conditions as they took to the course, with the 3 main contenders (all finished in top 10 at stage 3 of the NW Tour) eyeing each other up. From the group of 30 riders 8 broke free early on, holding the gap throughout the race, but as the heavens opened up with a hammering rain shower and gusting winds, it was Calum and his main rival Jamie Thomson who broke into a sprint with third of a lap to go, and Calum just being edged out on the line into silver medal position by Jamie. (Believe it or not, Jamie and Calum’s grannies are golfing partners!)
