There was a massive number of entries at the Eastern League event on Sunday at Grafham Water – there were at least 270 entries and most of the senior events had 80 riders.
In the Youth group Oli Stockwell and Joe Kiely broke away from the start and led at the end of lap 1. Oli extended his lead on each lap and won by around 30 seconds – the battle for second place went to Mark Lightfoot who caught Joe Kiely in the final dash for the line – Joe took the honours as the first Under 14 rider. Tom Martin was 8th – Tom Sharples was around 12th with 2 laps remaining but punctured and had to run around 800m to get his spare bike in the pits – he finally finished 44th. Lauren Higham was 23rd and second girl.
In the 40+ race Martin Dossett was 23rd – Michael Parry rode well in the Senior/junior race and finished 8th and second Junior.
Congratulations and thanks to Bob Parry who stepped in at short notice to over see the event as the original organiser from Ely CC was unavailable and there was a risk that the event would be cancelled
