Torbay Results

Top class results in Round 1 of the British Cycling Youth Road series at Torbay on Sunday.

Oli Stockwell won the under 16 race with a fantastic finishing sprint from a group of around 40 riders. With 20 metres left he looked to be in third spot but his finishing speed took him over the line in the last few metres to win by the narrowest of margins for a great victory. Clubmate Archie Peet finished in 15th place in a strong field of 80 riders which was reduced by half at the finish.

In the under 14 race the Wheelers duo of Caelen Miller and Euan Woodliffe were in a breakaway grouo of 8 riders in the early part of the race but they were reeled in as the race neared the finish and 30 riders approached the finish in one group. A good position was needed coming round the last bend with just 200m remaining – Caelen and Euan got into a good position and finished in 4th and 5th position for another great result.

On Saturday a number of the Wheelers rode the March hare circuit race at Stratford – Tom sharples won the undr 16 race with a well judged sprint , Dylan Starkey won the under 12 race with Fin Woodliffe 4th and Beth Bennett was 4th in the under 14 girls event.
